Spotlight Shines On: The limits of Halloween
Although we all enjoy the spirit and the candy that goes along with Halloween, there is a limit which you should respect as your grow older. When you’re young, you pick out whatever costume you want and go out to trick-or-treat in your neighborhood. As you go through high school, you begin to reach an age limit where some of these activities become immature and childish. After your freshman year, it is generally known that you need to stop going from house to house for candy. Seeing almost 6-foot-tall high school students next to 4 year children is just strange (and depending on the costume choice, creepy). However, the spirit of dressing up and the freedom that comes with being someone else for a night doesn’t change. Most kids continue to dress up throughout high school, coming up with great costume ideas, which are usually utilized during Halloween parties put on by family or friends. The seniors even get to wear their costumes to school on Senior Dress-Up Day. We encourage students to get spirited over the holiday, but remind everyone of the limits of Halloween.
