The Fault in Our Stars: Heartbreakingly brilliant

Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.

When I walked into the movie theater, the smell of buttery goodness hit my nose. After purchasing my ticket, food and drinks, I took my seat, ready to watch the movie.

The novel, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, came to life when Director Josh Boone turned this number one selling romantic book, into a heart dropping movie.

The Fault in Our Stars is about two teenagers, Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters who meet at a cancer support group. With Gus’s prosthetic leg, and Hazel’s oxygen tank, they fall in love while going through a miraculous journey together. Through out their struggles they realize that, “Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”

Director Josh Boone chose actors who he felt will play in this saddened, romance script. These actors include Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, Shailene Woodley as Hazel Grace Lancaster, and Nat Wolff as Isaac. Together, these three friends, three illnesses, work together to create this heart throb, heart break films.

One of the most loved quotes is said by Gus, “I am in love with you. And I know that love is just a shout into the void, and that oblivion is inevitable, and that we’re all doomed. And that one day all our labor will be returned to dust. And I know that the sun will swallow the only earth we will ever have. And I am in love with you.” This movie not only brings awareness to the fact that love can come from anyone, in any shape or size, or in this case with any consequence as well as be given risky chances. However, tragedies can strike anyone in an instant, without anyone knowing.

Being rated PG-13, this movie was released in June 2014. The talk of the Spring, The Fault in Our Stars was awarded “Best Romance” by the Golden Trailer Awards, and won seven Teen Choice awards in various categories. Director Josh Boone was also nominated for “Best Film” at the Seattle International Film Festival. Totaling 11 awards won, it made an overall $48.2 million on a $12 million budget. After more than doubling their profit, this movie was rated an 8 out of 10 stars by IMDb movie, celebrities and TV reviews.

Not only will it bring you to tears, but you will also laugh. It is a great movie for the whole family.
