Zayn pains 1D fans

HEARTBREAK: Fans around the world are upset over Zayn Malik’s announcement to leave the popular boyband after five years together.

One Direction announced Zayn Malik’s departure from the band after five years of being together on Wednesday March 25. The other boys said that they will continue as a four piece band and support Zayn’s decision.

I think the band will obviously be much different without Zayn, as he was the source of iconic high notes during songs such as You and I or Ready to Run. However, it was his own decision and everyone should respect that.

As a fan, it is still important to respect the other boys decision to continue on their journey as One Direction. Harry, Niall, Louis, and Liam are undoubtedly going through a hard time as their bandmate leaves after being through so much together. Like Zayn, they need support right now as well.

The situation is sad, and fans have every right to be upset, but Zayn has had to face a lot of media brutality over the years as one of the most famous Muslims currently in the public eye. All the racism towards him along with normal celebrity hate must have taken its toll.

I hope that after a well-deserved break from the band, one that One Direction’s management failed to provide, Zayn may come back and rejoin the popular boy band. He said on facebook “I’m leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight.”

I feel like all of the boys need to take a break from the constant touring that they have been doing, and a break from writing and recording music. In a span of almost five years, the band made a total of four albums, which must have been a large amount of work coupled with touring the world.

I will admit that when I first heard the news myself I was in denial as I have been a fan for quite awhile. However, I am excited to see what the rest of the band has in store for the future and wish Zayn Malik the best of luck in whatever he pursues next, and hope all other One Direction members feel the same.
