Arianna, a senior at South Hadley High School, is planning on majoring in political science with a minor in journalism when she gets to college next year. She is very passionate about politics, writing, and human rights, and her goal is to combine all three and become a political journalist (although becoming a human rights lawyer is not off the table).

Educating people, having those difficult conversations on topics such as racism, homophobia, and sexism are something she finds is necessary, and she is up to the challenge. Though she is still in high school, one of the ways she has started these conversations is by joining the Racial Justice Task Force in hopes to create a more inclusive curriculum that will educate students on topics such as racism and white privilege, as well as establishing a safer environment for all students. While being one of the only students on the task force was intimidating at first, she finds that it is necessary that she uses her privilege to help others; being able to create change and fight for equality in any way she can is very important to her.

Before COVID, she was a three season athlete (cheerleading, basketball, and softball), was a part of the Leo club at school, and worked as a summer camp counselor at the YMCA. Since the pandemic hit, she spends her time reading
(she recommends the book 11/22/63 by Stephen King, or the book Stamped, Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi), keeping up on current events, and listening to music while doing quite literally anything, Niall Horan and Lil Peep being two of her favorite artists.

Arianna is extremely extroverted and thrives best when she is around others. Being able to approach and talk to anyone, even strangers, is one of her greatest skills. She is very independent, opinionated, and not afraid to get into a friendly debate if necessary. Writing has always been a passion of hers, since her sixth grade teacher told her that she has a great aptitude for it. She has always excelled at any type of writing and hopes to use this skill to help educate people and change the world for the better.
