Tailgate picnic is a wonderful little deli located in the Village Commons, perfect for those who want a quick healthy meal, or a nice spot to stop and eat.
They have all sorts of food items and drinks available to purchase, satisfying anyone’s appetite. Upon entering the deli, I immediately felt chilled from the line of coolers containing an array of drinks on the right side of the restaurant.
I ended up ordering an Orchards sandwich. It’s an odd but delicious combination of pickled apples, honey mustard, brie cheese, and lettuce all on a French roll, with a pickle on the side. All their sandwiches have the option of a pickle with the price of the sandwich. The sharp sour of the apples and mustard is balanced out by creamy brie cheese, all with a satisfying crunch. The food was very well made and served rather fast with polite service from the employees.
They also have more traditional items like steaming hot mac and cheese; I grab that occasionally when I want something warm, homemade salad, or meatball subs.
Sweets are also available to buy, from home made muffins and cookies, to bagged candies like gummy bears or M&Ms.
From a scale 1-5 Paws, I would give it a 4 Paws: Pounce on it.
