The Montague Bookmill is the place for book lovers. You can get lost for hours in this tranquil bookstore that’s perched just right about the Sawmill River.
The store sells art, music, and used books. Along with all of these things, there is also a cafe within the main bookstore. The Lady Killigrew Cafe offers many delicious foods and drinks. They have freshly made coffees and teas, breakfast options, sandwiches, drinks like lemonade, and so much more. When the weather permits, there is even an outdoor patio that overlooks the water, creating a beautifully quiet and serene moment for yourself.
Through the two floors of the bookmill, you can find all kinds of art, music, and literature.
There is a huge selection of books to choose from and look through. There are many nonfiction varieties, from politics, history, travel, gardening, cooking, etc. For more of their fiction section, there’s poetry, fantasy, mystery, sci-fi, and so much more.
All of their books are in good condition and look pretty good for being used books. While I was there, I had picked out three hard covers and a paperback, the total came back to about $20. Compared to new books, especially hard covers, that’s generally less than one new book.
What’s even better is that you can find older releases, books that you couldn’t find anywhere else. It’s truly like looking through old treasures.
The only downside is that it can be a bit cramped. If it’s during one of their busier hours, there isn’t a whole lot of room to walk. However, it usually clears out pretty quickly.
I highly recommend that, if you have the time, to go on a little adventure, you will have a great experience at the Montague Bookmill.
