GTA V: Influencing teens negatively, one crime at a time
The release of newly anticipated video games cause a cloud of questions as to the benefits of allowing the youth to partake in such criminal and deviant acts played out in a cruel world such as in Grand Theft Auto V. With the right codes and a decent amount of bullet fire one can reach a five star wanted level and kill an estimated twelve military or police personnel in merely three seconds. With “Invincibility” activated a player has five minutes of non-stop killing potential. The math isn’t pretty and the scene of live game play is more gruesome than most could imagine. With a few calculations and using a scale of twelve deaths per three seconds it comes out to an estimated 330,000 possible kills in matter of twenty-four hours. A single day is all it takes in this coastal city of Los Santos to pull off a small scale genocide in the convenience of your own home. This should hopefully raise red flags for some of you seeing as the younger generations are more prone to take hold of something this horrifically mind altering as well as be able to navigate it with much greater ease. I see some of the obvious benefits that lay open on the surface such as the easy release for angered teens in a violent but none active society crime. I can also see the benefits this game could show for members of society who have some type of repressed anger towards law enforcement or military. I even see the benefit of giving Rockstars game to countries or foreigners that have distaste for Americans because of the games graphic killing abilities in a non-active environment. The only problem I have is the number of horrible messages games like this can portray. The senseless Hit-and-Run victims or the countless knocked out ladies. The stabbed and bleeding or the helicopter drivers who fall with their ships on the daily. The idea that you can smash your car into poles and streetlamps and continue on your way. The endless bullet holes in yourself and your victims. The mind cringing explosions that occur in rapid succession when in a slow motion rampage. This game allows for robbery, murder, and trafficking. The worst of it all though that rates at the bottom of scumbag lows is the players who invest in companies to only then go above and beyond just to see their competitors crash and their own share prices rise. This game is a deadly tornado of mass murdering mindlessness mixed with the angst to repent. No doubt tho that with the onslaught of murder is the increase of monetary gain. GTA V has consistently taught the youth that with violence, gore, and destroying neighborhoods your life will progress casually on to a seemingly healthy end. I have little to be positive about when describing this disgusting virtual universe besides the fact that most all lessons taught are negative.
