Delegates visit high school
Delegates from Abu Dhabi have come to the high school to establish a relationship with the town of South Hadley and learn from our education system.
According to the Superintendent, Nick Young, the delegates know that if the Massachusetts education system was ranked as if it were its own country, it would be ranked higher than the country as a whole. They hope to emulate our curriculum and our expectations.
The high school hopes to establish a relationship with the Abu Dhabians. The delegates want to learn from the teachers and administrators hope to set up a possible partnership and student exchange program: “The prospect of having an international collaboration is an exciting one.”
All of these are quite new possibilities but no matter what happens the administrators hope that the cultural differences will be a great learning experience for students and teachers.
“The possibilities of cultural exchanges are limitless,” Principal Diana Bonneville said, “Bringing awareness of global issues and cultural differences to SHHS will open our minds to the fact that the world is much bigger than the Pioneer Valley.”
While the schools are just beginning to explore the potential relationship, it is something that the administration is looking forward to. Any further developments are unknown by spotlight staff reporters.
