The devastating effects of chemical warfare on Syria’s people by their own government.

The Syrian government was accused of using chemical weapons against their own people three months ago, on the 21st of August. The government of Bashar Al-Assad has denied that they have used chemical weapons against their own people, and have blamed the rebels. Russian Officials state that all of the chemical weapons in Syria could be destroyed by half way through 2014.

The United States of America as well as France were the only two countries that were willing to take immediate military action. President Obama sent Secretary of State John Kerry to make an agreement with Russia about what actions to take after President Obama made a 16 minute address being frank about how the political and diplomatic situations had shifted  in a few days.

With Russia supplying Syria with chemical weapons for the past decade, some people think they are to blame. “I believe that people should take responsibility for the things they have done wrong” said School Librarian Rebecca Mazur when asked about the bombings in Syria.

Syria agreed to join the global Chemical Weapons Convention. The Chemical Weapons Committee stands to eliminate the threat of chemical warfare and the mass destruction brought on by such. The government of the State must follow the regulations brought to it, and enforce them morally and legally.  All parties have so far agreed to disarm all chemical weapons, new and abandoned from past years. Chemicals may still be used, but not to harm any living person.
